Nippon Paint 9000 Aluminium Wood Primer is a high-performance solvent-based wood primer specifically engineered to protect and level wooden substrates. Its unique formula features aluminium pigments in flake-form, which overlap to create a tight, metallic-lustre barrier. This barrier effectively prevents moisture penetration, making it an essential first coat for preventing wood rot and inhibiting fungus growth.

Ideal for both interior and exterior timber, this primer offers excellent levelling properties, filling in wood grains and crevices to create a perfectly smooth surface for topcoating. Whether you are painting doors, furniture, or timber panels, the 9000 Aluminium Wood Primer ensures a durable, professional finish with superior adhesion.

 

Technical Data

• Composition: Aluminium pigment with Modified Alkyd / Phenolic Resin binder.

• Drying Time (Touch Dry): 30 minutes (at 28–32°C).

• Drying Time (Hard Dry): 8 hours (at 28–32°C).

• Recoating Time: Minimum 8 hours.

• Theoretical Coverage: 12 – 15 m² per litre per coat (varies by wood porosity).

• Dry Film Thickness: Approximately 25 – 30 μm per coat.

• Application Method: Brush or Roller (Brushing is recommended to work the paint into wood grains).

• Thinning: Maximum 5% dilution with Nippon Paint General Purpose Thinner.

Application System

1. Sealer/Primer (1 Coat): Nippon Paint 9000 Aluminium Wood Primer.

2. Undercoat (1 Coat): 9000 Speed Undercoat or Economy Undercoat.

3. Topcoat (2 Coats): 9000 Gloss Finish, Odourlite Gloss, or Q-LAC.

Surface Preparation

• Condition: Surface must be dry (moisture <12%), clean, and free from grease or dirt.

• Preparation: Sand the wood surface with suitable sandpaper to a smooth finish and wipe off all dust before priming.
• ​​​​​​​Repainting: Scrape off loose or flaking paint and spot-prime bare wood areas.
