Nippon Paint Momento® Velvet Metallic is a sophisticated decorative paint that transforms flat surfaces into luxurious, tactile masterpieces. By combining a unique fabric-like feel with metallic pigments, it creates a finish that shifts and changes as light hits the wall from different angles. It is a water-based, low-VOC, and formaldehyde-free formula, making it a safe and eco-friendly choice for high-end feature walls in master suites, living rooms, and boutique commercial spaces.

 

Technical Data

• Paint Type: Water-based acrylic with metallic pigments.

• Finishing: Metallic Velvet Texture.

• Drying Time: Touch Dry in 30 minutes; Hard Dry in 2 hours.

• Recoating Interval: 2 – 4 hours (between base coats).

Application Instruction

1. Base Coat: Apply two coats of the designated Nippon Momento Primer and allow it to dry completely for at least 4 hours.

2. Texture Application: Apply the Velvet Metallic finish using a specialized Momento spatula or trowel in a random "criss-cross" or "S-shape" motion to develop the velvet texture.

3. Refining: For an intensified effect, a second thin layer can be applied once the first coat is touch-dry to fill in gaps and add depth.

 

Recommended Coating System

• Sealer (1 Coat): Nippon Interior Wall Sealer (for new or highly porous masonry).

• Base Coat (2 Coats): Nippon Momento Primer (in the color matching the Velvet Metallic series).

• Finish Coat (1-2 Coats): Momento® Velvet Metallic.

Surface Preparation

1. Wall Inspection: Ensure the substrate is structurally sound, dry, and free from any cracks or surface defects.

2. Cleaning: The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of dust, oil, grease, or any loose, peeling paint that could affect adhesion.

3. Leveling: Use a suitable interior filler to repair any holes or unevenness, followed by fine sanding to achieve a smooth finish.

4. Environmental Factors: Confirm the wall moisture content is below 16% and the alkalinity level is below pH 9 before applying the primer.

5. Preparation Area: Ensure the workspace is dust-free and well-ventilated to prevent airborne particles from settling on the textured finish during the drying process.
