SURFACE PREPARATION

General: Surface must be completely dry and free from dirt, grease, oil, and other contaminants.
-
Wood: Sand the surface in the direction of the wood grain to a smooth finish. Wipe off all dust. Spot-prime any scraped areas with an appropriate undercoat.
-
Metal: Ferrous substrates should be sanded or wire-brushed to remove rust and mill scale (St 2 or St 3 standard). Clean off dust and ensure the surface is dry before priming.
-
Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose, flaking, or defective paint. Lightly sand sound existing coatings to provide a mechanical "key" for better adhesion.
