PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Nippon Paint Tile Primer is a high-performance, two-pack water-thinned epoxy primer specifically engineered to serve as a superior adhesion barrier. It is the ideal solution for homeowners and professionals looking to renovate kitchens, bathrooms, or floors without the mess and cost of hacking existing tiles.

Designed as a universal primer, it provides a powerful bond on challenging, non-porous surfaces such as glazed tiles, glazed brickwork, and smooth concrete. It acts as a bridge, allowing high-quality topcoats to adhere perfectly to slippery surfaces while offering low-odour and eco-friendly benefits.

• Mixing Ratio: 9 parts Base to 1 part Hardener (by volume)

• Pot Life: 1 hour after mixing (Must be used within this timeframe)

• Drying Time:

  • Hard Dry: 4 hours

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

• Mixing: Pour the Hardener into the Base component. Stir thoroughly for at least 3-5 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is achieved.

• Application Method: Brush or Roller are recommended for a consistent film.

• Thinning:
  • ​​​​​​​Brush/Roller: Ready for use after mixing (no thinning needed).

  • Conventional Spray: Thin with 25–30% water if necessary.

• Cleaning: Clean all tools with water immediately after use before the paint dries.

RECOMMENDED COATING SYSTEM

For a long-lasting and professional finish, follow this sequence:

1. Primer (1 Coat): Nippon Paint Tile Primer.

2. Topcoat (2 Coats): 

• ​​​​​​​Option A (Water-based): Nippon Paint Aqua Epoxy.
• Option B (Solvent-based): Nippon Paint EA-4 Finish or Nippon Paint PU Recoatable Finish.

SURFACE PREPARATION

• Cleanliness: Ensure the surface is free from grease, oil, wax, and dust. Use a strong detergent or degreaser to scrub the tiles thoroughly.

• Dryness: The surface must be completely dry before application. Moisture content should be below 4%.

• Fungus/Algae: If present, treat with Nippon Paint Fungicidal Wash and rinse thoroughly.

• Stability: Remove any loose or peeling material. While hacking isn't required, ensuring the existing tiles are firmly bonded to the substrate is essential for the longevity of the new coating.
