PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Nippon Paint Red Oxide Primer is an alkyd-based, anti-corrosive primer specifically formulated for use on iron and steel surfaces. It acts as an essential base coat that prevents the formation of rust by providing a protective barrier against moisture and air.
Characterized by its distinctive reddish-brown matte finish, this primer offers excellent adhesion and high opacity. It is widely used in both residential and industrial settings for gates, fences, grills, and structural steelwork, ensuring the longevity of the metal before the application of a decorative topcoat.

RECOMMENDED COATING SYSTEM
For a durable and aesthetic finish on metal surfaces, follow this sequence:
-
Primer (1 Coat): Nippon Paint Red Oxide Primer.
-
Undercoat (1 Coat): Nippon Paint 9000 Undercoat (Optional, for better color depth).
-
Topcoat (2 Coats): Nippon Paint 9000 Gloss Finish or Nippon Paint Micaceous Iron Oxide (MIO).
SURFACE PREPARATION
-
New Metal: Ensure the surface is dry and free from grease, oil, and dirt. Wipe down with thinner if necessary.
-
Rusted Surfaces: Remove all loose rust, mill scale, and flaky paint using a wire brush, scraper, or sandpaper until the surface is clean and stable.
-
Pre-painted Surfaces: Scuff the surface with sandpaper to provide a "key" for better adhesion. Ensure the previous coating is firm and not peeling.
-
Environmental Conditions: Do not apply if the surface is wet or if the humidity is extremely high, as this can affect the drying process and adhesion.
