PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Nippon Paint EA9 Finish HB is a high-performance, two-pack amine-adduct cured epoxy finish specifically formulated for high-build application. It is engineered to provide a thicker protective film in fewer coats compared to standard epoxy finishes, offering superior durability against mechanical wear and tear.

This coating is exceptionally resistant to abrasion, impact, and a wide range of chemicals, including mineral oils, aliphatic degreasers, and splashages of mild acids and alkalis. It is the ideal solution for protecting internal concrete floors, structural steelwork, and marine environments such as engine rooms or cargo holds. Its robust formulation ensures long-lasting surface integrity in aggressive industrial settings.

• Drying Time (at 30°C):

  • Touch Dry: 2 hours

  • Hard Dry: 16 hours

  • Full Cure: 7 days

• Recoating Interval: Minimum 16 hours; Maximum 7 days

• Solid Content: 50 ± 2% by volume

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

• Mixing: Stir the Base (Part A) thoroughly. Add the Hardener (Part B) and mix until the color and consistency are completely uniform. Allow an induction time of 10–15 minutes before application.

• Thinning: Use Nippon SA-65 Thinner.

  • Airless Spray: Ready for use (or thin up to 5% if necessary).

  • Brush/Roller: Add 5–10% thinner for better workability.

• Application Method: Airless spray is recommended to achieve the high-build target thickness. Roller and brush are suitable for smaller areas or touch-ups.

• Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with Nippon SA-65 Thinner.

RECOMMENDED COATING SYSTEM

For a professional-grade protective system, follow these sequences:

• Concrete Surfaces: 1. Primer (1 Coat): Nippon Paint Aqua Epoxy Primer. 2. Finish (2 Coats): Nippon Paint EA9 Finish HB.

• Steel Surfaces:

  1. Primer (1 Coat): Nippon Paint 8048 Zinc Phosphate Primer QD.

  2. Finish (2 Coats): Nippon Paint EA9 Finish HB.

SURFACE PREPARATION

• Concrete: Must be cured (min. 28 days) and dry (moisture < 4%). Remove laitance, dust, and contaminants via vacuum blasting or mechanical grinding.

• Steel: For best results, abrasive blast to Sa 2.5 (ISO 8501-1). If blasting is not possible, mechanical cleaning to St 3 is required. Ensure the surface is free of oil and grease.

• Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose or peeling paint. Lightly sand existing sound epoxy coatings to provide a mechanical "key" for the new coat.

• Environmental Conditions: Do not apply if relative humidity exceeds 85% or if the surface temperature is less than 3°C above the dew point.
