PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Nippon Paint Protective Finish FD is a high-performance, fast-drying alkyd-based enamel specifically engineered for the protection and decoration of iron and steel surfaces. It is formulated to provide a tough, high-gloss film that offers excellent durability in moderately corrosive environments.
Designed for efficiency, its "Fast Dry" (FD) property allows for quicker handling and faster project completion compared to standard alkyd paints. It provides excellent opacity and leveling, making it the ideal choice for industrial machinery, steel structures, gates, grills, and general metalwork where a professional, mirror-like finish is required.

RECOMMENDED COATING SYSTEM
For long-lasting protection on steel surfaces, follow this sequence:
-
Primer (1 Coat): Nippon Paint Red Oxide Primer or Nippon Paint Zinc Phosphate Primer.
-
Undercoat (1 Coat): Nippon Paint 9000 Undercoat (Optional, for enhanced color depth).
-
Topcoat (2 Coats): Nippon Paint Protective Finish FD.
SURFACE PREPARATION
-
New Metal: The surface must be dry and free from grease, oil, and dirt. Wipe down with thinner to remove any residual processing oils.
-
Previously Painted/Rusted Metal: Remove all loose rust, mill scale, and peeling paint using a wire brush, scraper, or power tool cleaning (St 2 or St 3).
-
Sanding: Lightly sand existing sound coatings to provide a mechanical "key" for the new paint.
-
Dryness: Ensure the substrate is completely dry before application. Moisture trapped under the film can lead to premature blistering or rusting.
-
Environmental Conditions: Do not apply during rain or when relative humidity is exceptionally high (above 85%).
